“The development has freed up traffic and considerably improved safety,” VINCI noted. But this wasn’t just about squeezing in more asphalt. Engineers reconfigured the motorway’s key interchanges, enhancing merging lanes and weaving areas, and ensuring compliance with new water management and environmental protection regulations.

Constructing a motorway while 100,000+ vehicles drive past each day isn’t for the faint-hearted. To avoid chaos, VINCI staged the works with military precision. Much of the heavy lifting happened overnight or behind concrete safety barriers during the day. Daytime traffic flowed, albeit cautiously, while machinery and teams worked within a hair’s breadth.
