Hyundai Construction Equipment Europe welcomes new MD Jongho Chun

Hyundai Construction Equipment Europe (HCEE) has announced the appointment of Jongho (J.H.) Chun as the new Managing Director.

The new MD brings broad experience with him in Finance, Sales Strategy and Marketing from the HCE Korean headquarters based in Seoul (South Korea). J.H. Chun’s role is to prepare HCEE for its new future.

A first and major implementation is the split of the European business into two independent divisions, Construction Equipment and Material Handling.

Changes within HCEE: Preparing for a new future

J.H. Chun’s role, formerly Head of Marketing Divisions at HCE and 19 years with the company, is to prepare HCEE for its new future. He started by splitting HCEE into two business divisions, Construction Equipment and Material Handling.

This is another step in HCEEs continuous ambition to position itself globally among the top five players by 2023. The separation will allow each division to focus more on their different customer types, different business models and product needs, all in a more independent way.

Both business units are located in Tessenderlo (Belgium) and the legal company name – Hyundai Construction Equipment Europe – remains unchanged. The split comes with a new organization structure. Alain Worp, former Managing Director HCEE, will lead the Construction Equipment business division and Peter Verbiest, who recently joined HCEE, will lead the Material Handling division.

Growing the European market share

J.H. Chun will focus on growing the European market share to reach the long-term vision of the company. “In 2019 we want to continue to excel in what we do. This year we continue focusing on growing our market share in a profitable way. We are continuously expanding and improving our European dealer network, invest in our product line-up and R&D, commit to invest in the employees in our organisation, earn our spot with the key accounts and continuously investigate partnerships and acquisitions. We will embrace the future together.” concluded mister J.H. Chun.
