Valoriza Medioambiente wins €142m contract for road cleaning and waste collection in Tenerife

Valoriza Medioambiente has won a contract to provide, from this December, the urban cleaning and waste collection and transport service of Santa Cruz de Tenerife in the Canary Islands.

The contract has a duration of eight years and a total value of €142 million.

Valoriza will renew the fleet of cleaning vehicles in Santa Cruz and change the nearly 6,000 waste containers that exist in the city.

The Santa Cruz cleaning contract, which has a population of 205,000 inhabitants, became one of the most important in the Valoriza Medioambiente portfolio.

Environmental sustainability

The new service is committed to sustainability and Valoriza Medioambiente will replace the entire fleet of vehicles and machinery with much more eco-efficient vehicles that will use compressed natural gas (CNG) or electricity. The fleet will generate less polluting emissions and will be much more environmentally friendly.

Likewise, the technological innovations that are incorporated into the vehicles and the machines will allow the self-diagnosis of the equipment and the communication of works and operational data in real-time.

The new waste containers will stand out for their ease of use and download and will include Smart Elements, which provide real-time information. In addition, they will be designed so that cleaning and maintenance under optimal operating conditions is easy, agile and efficient.

Portfolio of more than €2,000 million

With this new award, Valoriza Medioambiente is reinforced in the business of waste collection and road cleaning services, which is already developed in 400 municipalities in Spain (Madrid, Albacete, Toledo, Guadalajara or Cádiz, among others) and Colombia.

In total, the company’s portfolio exceeds €2,000 million and allows it to serve more than 4.5 million citizens.
