Geo Week 2027 to Bring Global Geospatial Networking to Salt Lake City
Geo Week will arrive in Salt Lake City in February 2027 with a network of more than 185 supporting organisations spanning six continents, as the geospatial and mapping event builds out its industry partnerships alongside its move from Denver.
The event will run from 23 to 25 February 2027 at the Salt Palace Convention Center, bringing together surveying, mapping, reality capture, remote sensing, digital construction and geospatial technology communities. The relocation places Geo Week in a region with an established technology sector and gives the organisers an opportunity to connect the event more closely with Utah’s geospatial community.
ASPRS and Reality Capture Network have been confirmed as official Event Partners, contributing conference programming, specialist sessions, events and training. A further group of Industry Partners includes GISCI, ISPRS, MAPPS, NSPS, OGC, USGIF, USIBD and WGIC.
Behind the list of organisations is a geospatial sector whose traditional boundaries are becoming harder to define. Surveying now overlaps with reality capture, engineering teams routinely work with point clouds and spatial datasets, and infrastructure owners are bringing GIS, BIM and digital twins into the management of physical assets.

Connecting Geo Week With Utah
The 2027 edition will be the first Geo Week held in Salt Lake City following the decision to relocate from Denver.
When the move was announced in February 2026, Event Director Lee Corkhill pointed to Utah’s practical use of GIS across water systems, utilities, transportation infrastructure and public lands, together with lidar acquisition and open-data initiatives. The geography surrounding Salt Lake City also presents a concentration of mapping environments ranging from dense urban development to mountains, desert landscapes and the Great Salt Lake.
The Utah Geographic Information Council and Salt Lake Users Group are joining the event’s network for 2027, providing connections with practitioners already working in the region rather than treating Salt Lake City simply as a new convention destination. Women in GIS will also participate in the 2027 event.

From Reality Capture to Infrastructure
The technologies represented at Geo Week increasingly feed directly into construction and infrastructure workflows. Reality capture can begin with terrestrial laser scanners, drones, vehicle-mounted systems, handheld equipment or conventional survey instruments, with the resulting information passing through photogrammetry, point-cloud processing and GIS platforms before reaching engineering design, BIM, asset management or digital-twin environments.
Infrastructure and transportation consequently sit alongside surveying and mapping, utilities, urban planning, natural-resource management and facility management within the event’s audience. Lidar, photogrammetry, SLAM, remote sensing and imagery are increasingly being combined with AI, machine learning, data integration and visualisation, reducing the separation between collecting spatial information and extracting useful intelligence from it.
Faster sensors and increasingly automated software have not removed questions around accuracy, interoperability, professional competency, data quality or appropriate workflows. The involvement of standards, certification and professional organisations keeps those issues alongside the hardware and software being demonstrated on the exhibition floor.
Salt Lake City in February 2027
Denver had been Geo Week’s established home, while Salt Lake City offers a new regional audience and closer links with Utah organisations. The organisers describe the city as part of the wider “Silicon Slopes” technology corridor and have pointed to its technology workforce and geospatial activity in explaining the relocation.
For the geospatial community, the practical applications around the city may be more relevant. Transport networks, utilities, public lands, rapidly developing urban areas and demanding terrain all require accurate spatial information and provide operating environments for many of the technologies represented at the event.
