The project includes a new passenger terminal, a new aircraft pier and additional infrastructure. Construction of the new pier is now in full swing and will go ahead as planned. Given the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on the Aviation sector, the original award date of the tendering procedure for the new terminal in June 2020 will be postponed to a later date.

The project conserves resources, is energy efficient and reduces greenhouse gas emissions. It contributes to achieving Schiphol Airport’s goal of becoming a zero-emission, zero-waste airport by 2030.

“We very much appreciate and are actually very impressed how seriously and effectively our valued long-term customer Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is implementing its sustainability strategy. It is a pleasure for us to support their investments in this area,” comments Andreas Ufer, Member of the KfW IPEX-Bank Management Board with responsibility for infrastructure. “With this transaction we are also highlighting to our customers that we still provide financing to assist their projects, even in times of crisis.”

“Schiphol is very pleased that KfW IPEX-Bank contributes to the expansion of Schiphol with this financing facility. The closing of this new loan facility emphasizes the good relationship built over the last years. Passengers and airlines can count on an even smoother and client friendly journey thanks to Schiphol’s upcoming new pier and terminal” according to Jabine van der Meijs, CFO of Royal Schiphol Group.

With this financing, KfW IPEX-Bank continues to position itself on the European market as an institution that finances infrastructure and, at the same time, is contributing to environmental protection and climate change mitigation.
