Millwood lands master distributor deal with CORE Erosion Control

Just weeks after landing a mass distributor agreement with Mid-TN in Tennessee, Millwood, Inc. has reached another master distributor agreement with Mid-Atlantic Supply in Baltimore, MD to sell its CORE Erosion Control Services branded products.

“The expectation is that Mid Atlantic will only buy compost filter sock from Millwood,” Jason Dorney, regional sales director – CORE Erosion Control, said. “If they begin to sell some of our other products such as mats, skids, stakes, etc., they would only purchase them from Millwood.”

These erosion and sediment control products are designed to act as a buffer or barrier that filters sediment and other potentially harmful product from construction sites to waterways and other areas of land where protection is needed.

Mid Atlantic Supply, a family-owned and operated construction supply business, was started after co-owners and siblings Jerry Bowman and Kim Driver saw a need for a local business targeted at selling primarily construction and concrete materials.

“Mid Atlantic Supply has a diverse clientele, which will help the growth of the CORE Erosion Control Services line of products, and Mid Atlantic Supply is located close to several of our manufacturing locations,” Dorney said. “Their local presence and reputation aligns well with our values and desire to grow our relationships in new markets.”

Mid Atlantic is a large player in the erosion control industry and services all of Maryland, Delaware and parts of Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington D.C.

“Mid-Atlantic has several clients that work on government projects, which to date is not an area that many of our other distributors service,” Dorney said. Building relationships with larger master distributors is necessary, Dorney said, because distribution partners will allow Millwood to funnel as much business as possible.

“This includes setting up smaller distribution outlets as sub-distributors to the master distributor,” Dorney said.

As a master distributor in the area, Mid Atlantic Supply will receive referrals for business from CORE Erosion Control Services and have the opportunity to set-up sub distributors. They will also have the ability to quote their clients installed prices for the compost filter sock and other erosion and sediment control Best Management Practices (BMPs).

Last September, Millwood acquired CORE Erosion Control Services in Sewell, NJ. With it came the company’s 30th location nationwide and a new product brand with compost filter socks being the featured product.

Since acquiring the business, Millwood’s CORE Erosion Control Services sales team has grown by nine, and the company has added three compost filter sock manufacturing locations.

Other products included in the CORE product brand are:

  • Hardwood stakes
  • Bridge & crane mats
  • Laminated mats
  • Fencing
  • Pipeline skids
  • Natural absorbents
