Intelligent soil compaction with Bomag Economizer for single drum rollers

The Bomag Economizer measures the level of compaction and displays the result in a simple, easy-to-understand manner. At customer request, Bomag now equips any of its single drum roller models worldwide with the Economizer.

For years, the intuitive Bomag Economizer display has been in popular use on small and large tandem rollers to measure asphalt compaction. In the soil compaction segment, the display is available for reversible plates and trench compactors. Customers and operators have been so impressed by the efficiency of this system that Bomag now offers the Economizer as optional extra and retrofit kit for the latest generations of single drum rollers.

The Economizer is now also available for Bomag single drum rollers as an instrument for compaction measurement.

Developed to support operators

A customer survey revealed:  Economizer measuring technology has proved itself in compaction work. The system is easy to use as no activation or calibration is required. The display is designed intuitively which means no operator training is needed: A light strip which expands progressively with the degree of compaction indicates the compaction progress to the operator and warns against over-compaction.

On the  Bomag single drum rollers, the Economizer is a cost-effective method for measuring soil compaction.

The Economizer for single drum rollers will be available internationally as follows:

  • SDR-5 available since 1 July 2017
  • SDR-40/-4: from 1 August 2017
  • BW 124-5: at the launch of the latest generation
