Modular Water Systems unveils EveraTREAT MINI Small-Scale Wastewater Treatment
When it comes to tackling the challenges of wastewater treatment, the industry often leans towards large-scale solutions. However, a shift is brewing. Modular Water Systems™ (MWS), a division of Water On Demand, Inc. (WODI), is making waves with its latest product offering, the EveraTREAT MINI. This new line of compact wastewater treatment systems is quickly gaining traction, particularly among smaller communities, businesses, and remote facilities.
The EveraTREAT MINI, designed to serve decentralized wastewater needs, is catching the eye of partners and stakeholders across Texas and beyond. With its ability to provide an efficient, easy-to-install solution for smaller treatment sites, this innovation could represent a significant step forward in sustainable water management.
The Market Need: Small, Simple, and Scalable
As urban sprawl continues and remote facilities expand, the demand for localized wastewater treatment systems is on the rise. Traditional “Big Water” solutions, while effective for large municipalities, often lack the flexibility and scalability required for smaller applications. Enter the EveraTREAT MINI.
Georgetown, Texas-based Enviromaintenance, one of MWS’s regional partners, recently embraced the EveraTREAT MINI, citing its suitability for smaller projects. “We needed something small, discreet and very quick to install, with the smallest possible service needs,” explained Bryan Klepzig, CEO of Enviromaintenance. “In this category, you need quick and simple, and the EveraTREAT MINI delivers! We look forward to facilitating several hundred such installations in the Greater Central Texas Region, from Waco to San Antonio.”
Indeed, the EveraTREAT MINI seems tailor-made for this purpose, offering a compact, underground, single-tank system that requires minimal surface disruption—only access hatches and a control panel are visible at ground level. As Daniel Early, PE, chief engineer and general manager of MWS, put it: “This is a category that Big Water can’t even touch. Because we are nimble and our processes are standardized, we can step right into the demand.”
What Sets EveraTREAT MINI Apart?
The EveraTREAT MINI is more than just a small-scale wastewater treatment plant—it’s a modular, ready-to-deploy solution that integrates multiple treatment processes within a single tank. The design relies on Integrated Fixed-Film Activated Sludge (IFAS) technology, known for its compact size, effectiveness, and low maintenance requirements.
Customers benefit from the ability to reuse treated water, thereby helping to combat water scarcity and reducing rising water bills. Additionally, the system offers the option of add-ons to eliminate contaminants, including per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), which are increasingly recognised as hazardous “forever chemicals.”
Early noted: “Specifying Engineers can now realise a level of product completeness that has been missing in the sub 10,000 gallon per day wastewater treatment equipment market.” With capacities ranging from 2,500 to 10,000 gallons per day, the EveraTREAT MINI is perfectly suited for small commercial sites, residential developments, hotels, RV campgrounds, mobile home parks, and remote institutions like schools and government facilities.
Faster Installation, Lower Costs
The EveraTREAT MINI’s single-tank design is not just a space-saver—it’s also a time and cost-saver. By eliminating the need for multiple concrete or fiberglass tanks and simplifying the installation process, it reduces both the complexity and expense of on-site setup.
“As a fully engineered product, it eliminates expensive custom engineering costs. As a single tank design, it saves the installation contractor significant time and money,” Early explained. The use of structural thermoplastics in construction further enhances its durability, offering an anticipated lifecycle of 100 years—two to four times longer than conventional materials like concrete and steel.
The product’s simplicity mirrors Tesla’s UNBOXED manufacturing method, where separate sub-assemblies come together into a single finished product. “What the end-user gets is a single tank delivery that is pre-plumbed and wired, making the final site installation relatively quick and easy,” said Early.
Addressing Industry Challenges
The EveraTREAT MINI is entering the market at a time when the decentralised wastewater treatment sector is grappling with several persistent challenges, including regulatory compliance, rising installation costs, and operational inefficiencies. The system’s pre-engineered, modular design offers a practical solution to these issues, allowing for quicker regulatory approvals and streamlined operations.
In Texas, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has already pre-approved EveraTREAT MINI designs up to 5,000 gallons per day, helping to expedite its adoption across the state. “Our goal is to bring this level of regulatory clarity and ease of approval to other jurisdictions as well,” added Early.
For water industry professionals keen to learn more, MWS offers a free one-hour Technical Webinar hosted by Daniel Early, which qualifies for a Professional Development Hour. This session is geared towards providing a deeper understanding of the technology and its applications.
The Growing Trend of Decentralised Water Management
While water management has traditionally been the purview of large municipal systems, there is a growing trend towards decentralised solutions. Communities and businesses are increasingly looking to treat wastewater on-site to save on rising water rates and reduce their environmental footprint. This approach also aligns with broader sustainability goals, offering a way to combat climate change by reducing the strain on centralised infrastructure.
The launch of EveraTREAT MINI comes at a crucial juncture. As climate change accelerates and water scarcity becomes an urgent issue, smaller-scale, flexible, and efficient treatment solutions are more important than ever. This is where Water On Demand™, with its unique blend of technology and investment potential, is making its mark.
Water On Demand: A New Frontier in Water Investment
Beyond the technological innovation of the EveraTREAT MINI, Water On Demand™ is also pioneering a new financial model in the water industry. Historically, water treatment and infrastructure were monopolised by government entities, but WODI is flipping the script by turning clean water into an investable asset. Through its innovative fintech platform, WODI is opening the door for retail investors to participate in the water market, with the potential for long-term royalties.
In October 2023, Water On Demand™ entered into a Business Combination Agreement (BCA) with FRLA, valuing the combined equity at approximately $72 million. This move consolidates OriginClear’s divisions, including Modular Water Systems and Progressive Water Treatment, into a single, powerful entity capable of executing larger and more prestigious projects.
Future Prospects: Scalability and Sustainability
With the EveraTREAT MINI, Modular Water Systems is poised to scale its operations to meet growing market demand. The product’s compact design, ease of installation, and flexibility make it an ideal solution for a wide range of applications. As more communities and businesses seek to manage water sustainably, the demand for decentralized solutions like EveraTREAT MINI is only set to grow.
Water industry professionals and investors should keep an eye on Modular Water Systems and Water On Demand™. Their innovative approach is transforming how water is treated, managed, and even invested in—ushering in a new era of sustainable water management.
