Bobcat Upgrades Dutch Armed Forces with Cutting-Edge Machinery
Bobcat has sealed the deal on a major supply agreement with the Dutch armed forces, delivering an impressive array of telehandlers, air compressors, and compactors.
This strategic partnership ensures that the Netherlands’ defence capabilities are bolstered with highly customised, robust equipment tailored to the unique challenges faced by military units. Here’s a closer look at what makes these deliveries a game-changer.
A Versatile Fleet of Telehandlers
In a move to enhance logistical operations across the Royal Netherlands Army, Navy, and Air Force, Bobcat has delivered 53 telehandlers, comprising TL25.60 and TL35.105L models. Most of these were shipped in 2024, with final deliveries scheduled for early 2025, including specialised units for the Air Mobile Brigade. These machines are not just robust; they’re also tailored for military use.
The TL25.60, known for its compact size and agility, boasts a lifting capacity of 2,500 kg and a height of 6 m, making it ideal for confined spaces. On the other hand, the TL35.105L offers a heavier lifting capacity of 3,500 kg with a maximum reach of 10.5 m, perfectly suited for handling containers. Both models feature army green exteriors and technical upgrades, including blackout lighting, front and rear towbars, and weapon supports.
For the Air Mobile Brigade, extra lifting eyes enable helicopter transport, while reversible cooling fans ensure optimal performance in dusty or challenging environments. Additionally, Bobcat has incorporated Stage III engine compatibility to accommodate regions with high-sulphur diesel. Specially designed pallet forks further optimise the telehandlers for military logistics, ensuring secure and efficient handling of diverse loads.
Customised Compressors for Diverse Military Operations
At the tail end of 2024, the Dutch armed forces received 63 PA12.7v air compressors. These state-of-the-art units are customised to operate in extreme conditions, including temperatures as low as -32°C. Designed with FlexAir technology, they deliver variable pressures between 5.5 and 12.1 bar and airflow rates from 5.2 to 7 m³/min, making them versatile across numerous applications.
The Navy, for instance, will utilise 13 compressors equipped for diving operations. These units feature integrated generators, providing consistent air pressure of 7 bar and electrical power of 3 kV. Mounted air hose reels with 50-metre hoses and height-adjustable drawbars enhance their adaptability, while lifting eyes allow for easy air transport.
Moreover, these compressors sport a toughened exterior—army green polymer hoods complemented by galvanised bases and charcoal detailing. Their dual compatibility with 12V and 24V systems ensures seamless integration with a variety of military vehicles, further emphasising their operational flexibility.
Light Compaction Equipment: Small but Mighty
Inter-Techno, Bobcat’s authorised dealer in the Netherlands, has also supplied 127 light compaction machines. This includes 54 R60 vibratory rammers, 37 FP20.50 forward plates, and 36 RP49.20D reversible plates. These machines are critical for preparing construction sites, establishing camps, and creating landing zones.
- R60 Vibratory Rammers: Compact and transportable, these are ideal for trenches, drainage systems, and road maintenance. They excel in compacting diverse soils, from sand to clay.
- FP20.50 Forward Plates: Perfect for tight spaces, these plates compact materials like gravel, paving stones, and bitumen-coated surfaces, making them indispensable for trenches and sidewalks.
- RP49.20D Reversible Plates: Built for civil engineering and road construction, these plates utilise twin-shaft technology for superior compaction and directional changes during operation.
