AGD Systems wins British Brazilian export award

AGD Systems, a leading UK manufacturer of ITS product solutions, including traffic radar, was listed as one of the top 20 export partners to Brazil in the prestigious Foreign & Commonwealth Office Department for International Trade British Brazilian Awards.

AGD was announced as a winner alongside companies such as Jaguar Land Rover.

The award was presented to AGD’s business development manager Oliver Bain at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office in London on 18 May. Presenting the awards were Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Brazil, Mr Vijay Rangarajan, and the Brazilian Ambassador to the UK, Mr Eduardo Dos Santos.

AGD’s business plan is ambitious and has in recent years developed a strong export focus; AGD already has an Australian subsidiary and well-established global channel. The company’s product solutions fit well in countries that embrace advanced Intelligent Traffic Systems thinking. Brazil is such a country and is quickly bypassing technologies to arrive at systems that benefit from and require the kind of radar detection data that AGD’s products provide. This award recognizes the team’s hard work and their achievements to date.

“Members of the judging panel were very impressed with our results in developing a partnership with a local company and securing sales to 13 Brazilian firms with potential for more customers and many repeat sales,” explained Oliver Bain.

The British Brazilian Awards were part of a series of events under the banner ‘Think Brazil’, taking place in London, Oxford and Manchester, with the aim of fine-tuning the shared agendas of the Brazilian and British governments and drawing attention to business opportunities in both the public and private sectors.

Eduardo dos Santos stressed the importance of Think Brazil as a means of promoting partnerships: “Our affinities go beyond football,” he said. “We have mutual interests in diverse areas such as education, and science and innovation, which can generate co-operation beyond the traditional trade relations. In that sense, promoting Brazil in the United Kingdom represents the openness and continuity of a successful dialogue.”

AGD makes easy-to-integrate, globally compatible ITS product solutions designed to help create safer, greener, more efficient traffic and transport environments. AGD’s solutions are created for Smart Cities, Smart Highways and strategic transport initiatives around the world, and are the result of strategic ITS thinking strengthened by 25 years of practical implementations.

Working closely with system and product integrators, national road authorities and traffic engineers, AGD develops solutions that fit today’s needs and tomorrow’s challenges across urban and inter-urban settings. Products serve Traffic and Pedestrian Control, Highways and Enforcement environments, and applications such as tunnel and track.

Headquartered in Cheltenham, UK, AGD is a privately owned company. It has an Australian subsidiary and distributors in EMEA, Asia Pacific and the Americas. AGD’s R & D, manufacturing and test facilities come with a history of innovation and have delivered the IP to create intelligent solutions that improve the world’s traffic and travel systems.
