Brand-new Hyundai HX130LCR debuts at ScotPlant 2018

Since its launch in 1998 Scotplant has been promoted as ‘the exhibition where deals are done’ and the 2018 event (20th & 21st April, Royal Highland Centre, Edinburgh) is on track to successfully showcase quality equipment to the right buyers once again. Hyundai dealer Young Plant, based in Doune Scotland, will be exhibiting at the event and have confirmed that the company will be showing the very first Hyundai HX130LCR crawler excavator to arrive into Europe.

Also, on display on the Young Plant stand will be the 22-ton Hyundai HX220 L crawler excavator and the Hyundai HL960 HD wheeled loader, which has an operating weight of 19-ton.

The HX130 LCR is the third compact-radius excavator model in Hyundai’s HX series product line. The 13-ton machine is also available in a second standard configuration, the HX130 LCRD, which includes a dozer blade. Visitors to the Young Plant stand will be amongst the first in Europe to see the new machine and its many features.

The HX130 LCR excavator is powered by a 73.6 hp (55 kW) Perkins 854F Tier 4 final compliant diesel engine. When it comes to performance and productivity, the engine and hydraulic system of the HX130 LCR are unbeatable. Its ‘Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF)’ equipped engine delivers optimum power and fuel efficiency, without the need for SCR. So, users do not have the hassle with AdBlue.

The LCR model has a standard operating weight of 28,510 lbs (12,930 kg), while the LCRD model’s standard operating weight is 30,075 lbs (13,560 kg). It achieves a maximum dig depth of 18 ft 4 in (5,570 mm) and maximum digging reach of 27 ft (8,220 mm), and provides bucket digging force of 22,860 lbf (10,369 kgf). The HL130 LCR excavator is equipped with a standard 0.77 yd³ (0.59 m³) capacity, 40.6 in wide (1,030 mm) bucket.

The new machine fills an important gap in Hyundai’s excavator line-up. The market demand is growing for this weight class, especially for compact-swing machines that give contractors the added versatility of working in confined spaces.

Also, on the stand will be the HX220 L crawler excavator. The machine is powered by a 136kW Cummins QSB6.7 4-cycle turbocharged air-cooled diesel engine, which complies with the current emission standards. Hyundai claims a 90% reduction in nitrogen oxide for this 22t excavator compared to the 9A series of machines.

The HX220 L is fitted with an ECO gauge which displays engine torque and fuel efficiency level. In addition, the gauge indicates the average fuel consumption and total amount of fuel consumed. The HX220 L can offer a reduction in fuel consumption of up to 12%, depending on application, compared to Hyundai’s 9A series of machines.

The intelligent power control controls power depending on work environments. The mode can be selected, and pump flow can be controlled by a lever, reducing fuel consumption. The HX Series provides higher productivity and the HX220 L can load trucks up to 5% faster than the 9A-Series.

Safety features on both the HX220 L and the new HX130 LCR include Hyundai’s advanced around view monitoring system for 360° surround virtual operating view, which displays on the monitor. The system includes an intelligent moving object detection system that senses and warns the operator when objects come within 5m of the machine.

The machines are also fitted with Hi-Mate, which is a remote management system. Through its satellite powered technology. With one press of a button, users are able to remotely evaluate machine performance, access diagnostic information and verify machine locations. It is possible to program a virtual ‘geo-fence’ to prevent the machine from leaving a specific area.

The HL960 HD will also feature on the Young Plant stand. This tough wheeled loader has an operating weight of 19,300 kg’s (42,549 Ib) and at the heart of the new machine is the very latest Stage IV Cummins QSB6.7 electronically controlled diesel engine with a net power of 222 hp (166 kW) at 2,200 rpm.

The HL960 HD has been designed with a heavy-duty axle with enhanced load capacity for durability – the axles are the same as the larger HL970 machine. The maximum load capacity is 44,000kg at the front and 35,000kg at the rear which is considerably larger than the previous HL960 wheeled loader.

These heavy-duty axles are able to operate with solid tyres (option) which are essential in harsh waste environments and are not susceptible to punctures. They also benefit from longer operating times which results in decreased brake and axle fatigue.

A dual axle oil cooler is available as an option – this helps prevent axle over-heating on both front and rear axles. This can occur when performing repetitive work in a narrow operating area – which is very common in recycling and waste handling depots.

Put 20th & 21st April in your diary and make sure you put Young Plant on your ‘must visit’ list at ScotPlant 2018 – you’ll find them on Stand 8 Avenue E.
