Nottingham-based civil and electrical engineering firm McCann has been named as a winner of the RoSPA Gold Award for a fourth consecutive year for successfully ensuring the safety of both its staff and contractors within the workplace over the previous 12 months.

The company has achieved the Gold award in the internationally-renowned annual scheme run by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), which is open to businesses and organisations of all types and sizes from across the UK and overseas.

The judging panel consider entrants’ overarching occupational health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.

McCann will be presented with its fourth consecutive RoSPA Gold Award during a glittering ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole hotel on Thursday 6th June 2019 alongside award winners from a variety of sectors and industries.

Speaking about this year’s awards, Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of qualifications, awards and events, said: “The RoSPA Awards have become the key fixture in the health and safety calendar with new sponsors and new awards this year including the Leisure Safety Awards, the Safe@Work Safe@Home Award and the Inspiration Awards. Highly-respected, with almost 2,000 entrants every year, RoSPA award winners benefit from the wide-ranging rewards of improved sector reputation.”

For McCann’s Managing Director John McCann, maintaining high standards in relation to health and safety is crucial to the company’s success within civil and electrical engineering and he takes great pride in the team’s achievements in securing this latest award.

“I’m incredibly proud of the team we have in place at McCann because they’ve created and take ownership of a strong internal ‘health and safety culture’ that is ever present within everything they do,” said John.

“To be awarded the RoSPA Gold Award for a fourth consecutive year demonstrates that we are maintaining our high standards in health and safety and that this is making a difference – both for our team and our contractors across the UK.” added John.
