167 km Expressway proposal linking Cambodia & Vietnam

Sun Chanthol the Cambodia Minister of Transport and Vietnamese Minister of Transport Truong Quang Nghia held talks on the 11th January 2017 relating to the construction of a 167 km toll road expressway between Cambodia’s capital Phnom Penh and Ho Chi Minh City in southern Vietnam.

At present, the shortest route between the two cities is 232 km, and the proposed road would cut the transit time and carry up to US$ 5 Billion worth of trade a year, and boost the number of tourists visiting both countries.

The Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) estimated the cost of the road construction at around US$ 2.2 Billion in 2014.
