SWARCO launches MyCity Modular Traffic Management Platform

SWARCO, the traffic technology group, has launched MyCity, a new highly flexible and customisable modular traffic management platform that gives local authorities and city planning officials greater control of its systems to improve mobility for its citizens.

MyCity includes the functionality of a traditional traffic management system such as traffic signal monitoring and control, car park guidance and VMS management and journey time monitoring whilst enabling the plug-in of new features such as EV charging management, micromobility, floating car data and air quality management.

The web-based modular setup of MyCity means the system can be tailored to suit the specific needs of individual towns or cities, and the flexibility of it is such that it can be set up simply ‘as a service model’ and various functionalities and features can be easily added on at any time when they are needed to improve traffic flow and safety.

In order to provide a versatile traffic management platform, MycCity brings together all of SWARCO’s software solutions, including Zephyr which allows users to control and manage Variable Message Signs and other safety critical signage to guide drivers, whether it be to the nearest parking space or by providing valuable traffic updates and information.

Carl Dyer, Chief Technology Officer at SWARCO UK, says MyCity has been intentionally designed to create greater efficiencies for local authorities that enables greater control of traffic and mobility systems: “Traditionally SWARCO has delivered domain-specific solutions within the field of urban traffic, highways, parking and public transport. MyCity is now bringing this domain specific know-how together in a holistic platform approach.

“Various legacy systems, data sources and information systems can be easily integrated to determine meaningful information on the current and future traffic situation and determine an optimization strategy that is right for the needs of individual cities and its residents.”

The user-friendly interface of the platform means it is simple to use and doesn’t require software specific skills to operate, and can be accessed anywhere, any time on desktop or mobile.  MyCity is available as an on-premise solution or as a Cloud-Based solution operated by SWARCO 24/7.
