 African Development Bank funds US$600 Million Bagamoyo to Mombasa Highway

 African Development Bank funds US$600 Million Bagamoyo to Mombasa Highway

The construction of a the highway between Bagamoyo, Tanzania and Mombasa, Kenya along East African’s Coastline is now ready to go ahead following the finalising of plans.

This transnational highway will comprise the rehabilitation and upgrading to bitumen standard, and planned to pass by the Kenya urban areas of Malindi and Mombasa, and on to Lunga Lunga at the Kenya border, from where it crosses over into Tanzania, passing through the urban areas of Tanga, Pangani, Saadani, and finishing in Bagamoyo.

The African Development Bank (AfDB) have agreed to fund the project, and tenders are expected to be issued in the near future.

The Bagamoyo to Mombasa Highway project cost is estimated at some US$600 Million.
