The founding of sand and gravel excavating company “Lenz & Co” in 1906 laid the cornerstone for today’s LZR – Lenz Ziegler Reifenscheid GmbH in Kitzingen, Bavaria.

Today, the family-owned company not only supplies ready-mixed concrete, but is also active in demolition and waste disposal. Since mid-2017, a SENNEBOGEN 835 E-series rig has been operating at the Kitzingen site located directly on the Main River. It is used to unload sand and gravel from incoming ships and transfer the material to the facilities on site.

Sand and gravel extraction in the Main valley has always been a mainstay of LZR GmbH. Every day, approx. 800 tons arrive at the gravel plant in Kitzingen via the Main River. Operator Uwe Marx is in charge of unloading the material and supplying the processing facilities. Since the end of 2017, he can rely on his new SENNEBOGEN 835 E material handler to do the job. Equipped for a reach of 18 m and with a 2000-l double-shell grab, Marx dredges the raw gravel from the hulls or directly feeds the processing units of the concrete mixing plant. For an optimal view of the work area and all the way down into the hulls, the 835 E was specified with an elevating and extendable cab.

Operator Uwe Marx especially likes the good overview from the elevating cab and the simple and uncomplicated operation of the machine.

This additional benefit in work safety and comfort was one of the decisive factors when looking for a new material handler, explains workshop manager Christian Zimmermann. In daily operation, he especially appreciates the low maintenance requirements, the easily accessible components and the machine’s simple, straightforward engineering. Another winning point was that Schlüter Baumaschinen has proved to be a competent partner to provide service and assistance quickly and easily.

The machine is equipped with a 224-kW diesel engine complying with state-of-the-art tier 4f emission control requirements. Its all-wheel travel drive allows it to be used flexibly all across the company premises.
