John Deere updates the 190G, the Swiss Army Knife of Wheeled Excavators
Ideal for municipalities and work in heavily populated centers across North America, the updated John Deere 190G W excavator provides customers with a “Swiss army knife” for clearing ditches, repairing sewers or potholes, loading trucks or moving Jersey barriers.
“The wheeled excavator is one of the most versatile pieces of equipment in the market, and the 190G W now features Final Tier 4 emission technology, along with other customer-inspired updates,” said Jonathan Spendlove, excavator product marketing manager, John Deere Construction & Forestry. “With the 190G W, you can dig like a tracked excavator and move the wheeled machine around from site to site without having to invest in a truck and trailer.”
The 190G W features a 173-horsepower (129-kW) diesel engine that meets Final Tier 4 emission regulations without aftertreatment devices. A lightweight, split-type hood provides wide-open access to the engine from the front, and same-side filters and water separator at ground level simplify maintenance. The wheeled model boasts an operating weight between 43,431 and 45,300 pounds (19,700 – 20,500 kg).
The 190G W possesses a short wheelbase to slip into close quarters with ease. For close-up work, customers can opt for a two-piece boom. The excavator can quickly move between job sites with a top speed of 21.7 mph (35 km/h), and rubber tires won’t tear up concrete or asphalt.
A spacious and comfortable cab comes equipped with an easy-to-navigate enhanced LCD monitor that lets the operator easily dial in a wealth of machine information and functionality.
On the exterior of the machine, LED lights connected to the reconfigured counterweight require less maintenance and increase visibility on the job site. A standard battery-disconnect switch and larger handrail keep operator safety a priority.
The 190G W is protected by a heavy-duty undercarriage and durable D-channel side frames. Added strength comes from welded bulkheads within the boom that resist torsional stress, tungsten-carbide thermal-coated arm surfaces and oil-impregnated bushings. An enlarged cover provides additional protection for the blade cylinder, and a reinforced outrigger cylinder further boosts component durability.
