IQ Webinar focuses on workforce engagement
Bringing a fresh perspective on workforce engagement to this month’s Institute of Quarrying (IQ) Academy ‘Lunch & Learn’ webinar is Viv Russell, Managing Director of Longcliffe Group Limited, the UK’s leading independent supplier of pure limestone powder, granules and aggregates.
The webinar will take place on Thursday 28 February 2019 from 12:30-13:00. With more than 40-years experience in the mineral extractives industry, Viv will provide his personal and professional insight into workforce engagement and the evolving role of safety committees.
Viv says: “Workforce engagement is a fundamental aspect of the Quarries Regulations 1999. The widespread establishment of safety committees was the starting point of many sites in order to facilitate employee involvement in health and safety management. Twenty years on, it could be time to take a new look at the role of worker engagement and safety committees in the light of mature manufacturing excellence and performance management initiatives embedded into our operational management.”
‘Workforce Engagement and the evolving role of safety committees’ is the second Lunch & Learn webinar of the 2019 series from IQ Academy. IQ members are encouraged to sign up to the issues-related online presentations, which count towards valuable continuing professional development (CPD).
The next webinar to take place is: 28 March 2019 – ISO 45001 – Our Implementation Experience with Wayne Darwin of Tarmac.
Alongside his role at Longcliffe, Viv is the current Deputy Chair of IQ, Chair of QNJAC, a member of the Strategic Forum for Health and Safety in the Mineral Products Sector and has held chair roles in the British Lime Association (BLA) and European Lime Association (EuLA) safety focus groups.
