Bring your iPad to life with the ZAGG Pro Stylus

The one accessory for your iPad that you can’t do without is a stylus, and ZAGG have just released their sleek Pro Stylus, which is a really good alternative to the expensive Apple Pencil.

While navigating with your fingertips is really practical and intuitive, trying to write, sketch or manipulate 3d objects requires a stylus.

The ZAGG Pro Stylus is black and charcoal in colour, and works with note-taking, drawing and 3d design apps that are compatible with the Apple Pencil.

A quality digital pen

Just like an ordinary pen, the ZAGG Pro Stylus is a familiar cylindrical shape, but has a flat edge to one side so it doesn’t roll away and fits magnetically to the side of up-to-date iPads. It is also very comfortable to use and automatically pairs with any iPad from 2017. The ZAGG Pro Stylus pairs automatically with your iPad, and uses a hidden USB-C port for charging hidden at the top and a small button on the side to turn it on or off. Battery-life is expected to last for 8 hours.

The tip is very precise and great for accurate note-taking and sketching. Like similar devices the tip can get worn down but an extra tip is included.

Palm rejection and tilt sensitivity

While the pen is active the screen rejects any physical contact from your palm and varying the tilt angle of the stylus will vary the width of the line stroke. Great for highlighting and marking-up. Tilt sensitivity is not the same as pressure sensitivity though. Pressing the pen harder won’t make lines thicker or thinner.

The Pro Stylus features a universal capacitive tip on the other end of the pen so you can use it to interact with touchscreens on other devices, like smartphones.

Perfect for 3d designers

While the ZAGG pen might not be the perfect choice for artists who need pressure sensitivity, I didn’t have any issues creating digital art.

For 3d designers, CAD, and BIM users it is ideal for interacting with shapes, extruding objects and manipulating them on the iPad screen.

Zagg have made a great stylus, which is solid and feels like a quality pen, and gets a thumbs up here at Highways.Today.
