Quectel Wireless Solutions, a global leader in end-to-end IoT solutions, has unveiled three powerful single-board computers (SBCs) designed to simplify development and fast-track the creation of next-generation connected devices.
The newly launched models, QSM368Z, QSM560DR, and QSM668SR, mark a significant step forward in accessible, high-performance computing for the Internet of Things (IoT), offering developers a diverse range of options for connectivity, operating systems, and memory configurations.
Raymond Wang, Head of Smart SoC at Quectel, explained the value these platforms bring: “These boards are fully finished hardware that can be easily integrated inside customers’ larger systems across a wide range of IoT use cases. Provided in a ready-to-use, single, low-cost platform, these boards are helping to simplify and accelerate the development process for IoT devices of all types, significantly reducing development time with rapid prototyping and cutting development costs.”
QSM368Z for compact power for intelligent edge computing
At the heart of the QSM368Z lies the Rockchip RK3568 IoT processor, a quad-core ARM Cortex-A55 CPU paired with an ARM Mali G52 GPU, 8M ISP HDR, and a 1 TOPS NPU. Together, these deliver an impressive balance of computing, graphics, and AI performance, making the board ideal for tasks like real-time data analysis, advanced imaging, and edge-based deep learning.
Supporting both Linux and Android, the QSM368Z gives developers a flexible foundation to build on familiar, open platforms. The dual OS compatibility ensures seamless integration into diverse commercial and industrial environments while accelerating software development cycles.
The QSM368Z isn’t just about processing power. It offers triple-screen concurrent display support, 1000 Mbps Ethernet, and 4K video encoding, catering to applications such as industrial control systems, digital signage, and machine vision. Its integrated NPU enables real-time decision-making in smart factories, automation, and predictive maintenance systems.
Connectivity options include built-in Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 4.2, with support for optional Quectel LTE Cat 1, LTE Cat 4, Wi-Fi 6, and GNSS modules. Measuring just 120mm x 100mm x 22.25mm and weighing 90 grams, the board operates across -10°C to +75°C, ensuring reliability in challenging environments. This makes it ideal for IoT gateways, smart displays, industrial terminals, and even automotive video recorders.
QSM560DR for advanced 5G connectivity for high-performance computing
Quectel’s QSM560DR pushes edge computing to new heights. Featuring a 12 TOPS NPU and support for Ubuntu, Android, and Windows, the board is built for performance-intensive applications requiring low latency and ultra-fast data processing.
Its multi-mode 5G capability supports both NSA and SA networks, with seamless 3G and 4G fallback to maintain connectivity in variable signal areas. Wi-Fi 6E with DBS (Dual Band Simultaneous) and 2×2 MU-MIMO ensures faster transmission speeds and greater efficiency, crucial for robotics, smart retail, and real-time monitoring.
The board’s 5G NSA downlink speeds reach up to 2.5 Gbps, supporting data-heavy workloads such as streaming HD video, AI-based image processing, and sensor analytics. Multiple antenna configurations enhance stability and reduce transmission errors, an essential feature for industrial environments.
Compact yet rugged, the QSM560DR measures 120.5mm x 106mm x 22.5mm, weighs around 120 grams, and operates between -35°C and +75°C. It serves as a robust platform for edge computing across sectors including smart manufacturing, connected infrastructure, and retail analytics.
QSM668SR for cost-effective versatility for smart systems
Rounding out the lineup, the QSM668SR offers balanced processing power and energy efficiency. Equipped with a 1.1 TOPS NPU, it supports Android, Linux, and Ubuntu, giving developers freedom to customise solutions for a variety of environments.
The QSM668SR supports LTE Cat 4, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GNSS, ensuring dependable connectivity even in mobile or remote deployments. Under LTE Cat 4, it achieves uplink speeds up to 150 Mbps and downlink speeds up to 50 Mbps, while Bluetooth 5.0 enables smooth wireless device pairing and data transfer.
Precise positioning is a highlight, with optional GNSS functionality supporting GPS, GLONASS, BDS, Galileo, QZSS, and SBAS satellite constellations. This feature makes the board particularly suited for logistics, fleet management, and navigation-based IoT solutions.
With extensive multimedia and peripheral interfaces, HDMI, camera inputs, Ethernet, UART, USB, I²C, RS232, RS485, CAN, SD, and SIM, developers can connect a wide range of sensors and devices. Measuring 102mm x 100mm x 23mm and operating between -20°C and +75°C, it delivers stable, long-term performance even in harsh conditions.
Integrated antenna solutions and system support
To complement its SBC platforms, Quectel offers a wide range of high-performance antennas for cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GNSS connectivity. These are designed to ensure signal reliability, simplify system integration, and reduce the time-to-market for IoT projects.
