Serbia receives US$290m for 1,100km of Road Rehabilitation and Safety Projects
The project will support the rehabilitation and safety of about 1,100 km of Serbia’s major roads over the next five years.
the Serbian Ministry of Finance has agreed on three loans totalling about US$290 Million from three major Banks: The European Investment Bank (EIB); the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD); and the World Bank (the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development / IBRD).
The total cost is estimated at Euro 390.0 Million, of which US$415 Million is for rehabilitation works and US$24.5 Million is for services, including: detailed design, institutional strengthening, and technical assistance.
The Project is the first phase of the Government’s National Road Network Rehabilitation Programme to:
- Improve the condition and safety of the National Road Network
- Promote regional and national economic growth
- Facilitate trade
- Support private sector development
- Contribute to economic and social cohesion in the region
- Develop international, inter-city and local traffic demands.
Overall the projects goal is to create a positive environmental and social impact as it improves access to markets and social services, and provides opportunities for temporary employment for local communities through civil works contracts
Consultancy Services
The public enterprise “Roads of Serbia” is now inviting eligible consulting firms to indicate their interest in providing Design and Supervision services for the following:
- State Road 1B – 35 No. Sections
- Meroina – Prokuplje (Orljane) – 11.503 km
- Beloljin – Kurumlija – Rudare – 24.171 km
The Consultant will provide the following services:
- Technical control of main designs for heavy road maintenance, rehabilitation, and up-grading.
- Road safety audit of main designs for heavy road maintenance, rehabilitation, and up grading.
- Supervision of Rehabilitation Works including Environmental and Social Safeguard Monitoring
The planned duration for the Consultants Services is 9 months and proposals are due by 21st February 2017.
